Intelligent reporting
Intelligent report is an innovative practice of SavingsNow applying (LLM) to FinOps field, and the core is powerful data analysis ability. By automatically receiving and analyzing billing data from major cloud service providers, and using LLM's deep learning and natural language processing technology, the massive billing information is analyzed quickly and accurately. Furthermore, based on the built-in rich cost optimization rules, intelligent report can intelligentically mine the potential relationships and regularities between different metrics (Metric) in billing data. Based on these analyses, intelligent reports are able to provide customized cost optimization suggestions for enterprises. These suggestions not only cover the reasonable allocation of cloud resources, the improvement of use efficiency, but also include the potential risk warning and cost control strategy. With the assistance of intelligent reports, enterprises can more clearly understand their own cloud cost structure, so as to make more accurate and effective decisions.
In summary, intelligent reporting is a good example of SavingsNow's perfect combination of large model LLM and FinOps. It has brought unprecedented cloud cost management capabilities to enterprises, helping enterprises better respond to the challenges of the digital age, and achieve continuous optimization and reduction of cloud costs.
Create report
Enter the smart report page and click the [Add Report] button in the upper right corner of the page to open a new window.
- Select Document type (required), Basic and advanced.
- The advanced version allows you to view the relevant rule description and basic information of the report content.
- The premium version provides a report feedback feature where users can submit comments to the system based on their confidence in each part of the report.
- The "optimization recommendations" in the Premium Intelligence report are clearer and contain more detailed information. Through these detailed suggestions, users can better understand the nature of the problem and take more effective measures to solve the problem.
- Select Cloud Account (required), currently only AWS is supported.
- Select Language (required), support Chinese, English, Japanese.
Click [Confirm] button to generate the smart report. You can check the current report generation status in the list.
List of Reports
The smart report page uses pagination to list the smart reports that have been created. When you first enter, the report list is empty.
The list shows the main attributes of smart reports, including:
- Cloud Account: Each smart report is generated based on historical monthly billings for a specific cloud account (the default period is the last 6 months).
- Company: The name of the company to which the current cloud account belongs.
- Language: Reports are available in Chinese, English, and Japanese.
- Document types: Smart reports are available in Basic and Advanced versions, as described in the "New Report" section.
- Creator and creation time: Indicates who created the current report and when.
- Status: Displays the status as "Completed," "Exception," or "In Progress."
The report list page also provides various operations, including filtering and querying reports by time range, and viewing and reproducing specific reports.
View the Report
On the report list page, select a smart report with "completed" status and click [View] in the action column to enter the report details page.
Taking the advanced version of a smart report as an example, the page is divided into five parts: table of contents, content body, rule description and basic information, feedback, and download.

Report directory : The system automatically provides a directory tree for quick navigation through the report's content. Clicking any node in the directory tree jumps to the corresponding content section.

Content body : Includes charts and text. Users can edit the content, which is saved in real-time. The content mainly consists of four parts: overview, optimization overview, cost overview, and multi-dimensional analysis and optimization suggestions for top cloud products.

Overview: Describes the current cloud account's expenses for the last month, current month, growth rate, projected expenses for the next year, and estimated cost savings after implementing optimization recommendations, visually comparing before and after optimization.

Optimization Overview: Lists "monthly savings" and "annual savings" for top cloud products.

Cost Overview: Shows cost trends for the last 6 months and cost distribution by region, cost type, cloud product, etc., helping users understand and analyze cost situations.

Multi-dimensional analysis and optimization suggestions for TOP cloud products: Analyzes cost from multiple dimensions for the top 10 cloud products and provides optimization suggestions. For EC2, dimensions include region, cost type, instance type, OD instance distribution, RI utilization, RI coverage, Savings Plan utilization, and Savings Plan coverage.

Rule Description and basic information: The advanced version details the specific rules used to formulate optimization recommendations, explaining the reasoning process and data sources.
- Reporting feedback : Users can provide feedback on the report's content, evaluating its confidence. Users can approve content directly or flag inaccuracies, providing detailed feedback for continuous improvement.
- Download Excel : The system aggregates optimization suggestions for each top cloud product and organizes them into an Excel file for efficient review and execution. Users can download the Excel file by clicking the 【Download EXCEL】 button in the top right corner of the page.
Reporting Helpers
While viewing the smart report, users can activate the AI Assistant using the shortcut [/] or [right click] when selecting text. Typical scenarios include:
- Asking the AI Assistant for explanations about terms or descriptions in the report.
- Refining, typesetting, and summarizing selected text, with the option to [replace] the original text with AI-generated content. The report content is saved in real-time.
Edit the report
The report content can be edited during viewing, with real-time saving. The edit tool is accessed by selecting text and right-clicking, similar to normal document editing tools.
Regenerate
If an exception occurs during report generation or after adjusting relevant rules, the report can be regenerated.
- In the report list, select a report and click the [Regenerate] button in the action column to bring up a confirmation window.
- Click the "Confirm" button to restart the report generation. The current report status switches to [in Production] in the list.
- Click the "Cancel" button to close the window and cancel regeneration.
